The Wardrobe Theatre, Bristol’s leading fringe theatre, is thrilled to announce that from April 2025 we have partnered with National Theatre Live to start screening NTLive events, bringing the best of British theatre to the screen.

“One of the many joys of The Wardrobe Theatre’s programme is the sheer diversity and range of events we host alongside each other - be it theatre, comedy, music, drag, improv, poetry, clown or family shows, with awarding-winning touring shows sharing the same stage and platform as smaller fringe shows and local community events. Partnering with National Theatre Live adds yet more variety and choice to The Wardrobe Theatre’s events to ensure there’s something for everyone on our stage. NTLive is a really exciting addition to our programme.”

Dr. Strangelove is the highly anticipated stage adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s 1964 Cold War comedy. Seven-time BAFTA Award-winner Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge, The Trip) takes on four iconic roles in this adventurous new adaptation, written by Emmy Award-winner Armando Iannucci (The Thick of It, Veep) and Olivier Award-winner Sean Foley (The Upstart Crow).

The story follows a rogue U.S. General who triggers a nuclear attack, setting off a surreal race against time as government officials and one eccentric scientist scramble to prevent global destruction.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest comedies of all time, Dr. Strangelove remains as relevant today as it was 60 years ago. This stage adaptation celebrates Stanley Kubrick’s legacy while bringing fresh energy and wit to his cinematic masterpiece.
