Railway 200

In 2025, Railway 200 celebrates the 200th anniversary of the modern railway. 

Railway 200 will be a year-long nationwide partnership-led campaign to celebrate 200 years of the modern railway and inspire a new generation of young pioneering talent to choose a career in rail. It invites community, rail and other groups to get involved.

Starting in January 2025, a wide variety of activities and events are being planned to celebrate rail’s remarkable past, its role today, and its importance to a sustainable future.

Perhaps you have links to Brunel or other railway engineers? Does your business operate in and around an old railway track or station? 

Get involved

As Visit West members we invite you to share details of your activities and events, and keep up-to-date with Railway 200.

There are many ways you can get involved, this could include:

• Organising your own activities and events in support of Railway 200
• Following Railway 200 on social media (LinkedIn initially) and sharing its posts
• Sharing your or your organisation’s own stories as part of Railway 200
• Applying the Railway 200 logo to your organisation’s intranet, extranet and other materials
• Spreading the word in your local community
• Organising a local Railway 200-inspired art exhibition
• ...and many other opportunities!

Tell us what you have planned

Visit West will be promoting Railway200 events, activities and exhibitions through dedicated pages on the Visit Bristol and Visit Bath website, as well as promoting through our other digital channels, social media, enewsletter and in our corporate comms. Email us and let us know what you are planning, even if it is only the early stages so we can ensure that you are included.
