What is TXGB?
TXGB stands for Tourism Exchange Great Britain and is a digital marketplace, brought to you by Visit England. It offers tourism businesses the opportunity to diversify their distribution and gives distributors the ability to choose from a wide range of bookable tourism product, to add to their programmes.
Put simply, it is the engine that allows tours, attractions, restaurants, accommodation and any other business within the visitor economy to sell tickets easily via a large number of websites, reaching a huge audience.
What is meant by diversifying my distribution?
It means that you, as a tourism business, can choose from a selection of distribution channels, domestically and internationally, all in one place. These range from niche operators to OTAs and – most importantly here – destination websites like Visit Bath and Visit Bristol. It also allows you to make your own website bookable if it isn’t already. This isn't about replacing your own channels; it is about adding opportunities to fill your empty spaces and being directly bookable where people are looking to buy.
How is this helping local tourism recovery?
As businesses reopen post-Covid lockdowns, we are investing in bringing visitors back to Bristol, Bath and the surrounding areas. We want to make it as easy as possible to “know before you go”, by providing the latest visitor information on our website. We are driving visitors to our websites through our own activity, and that of VisitEngland. And we want it to be as easy as possible for visitors to look and then book with live availability taken directly from your inventory. By selling your product on Visit Bristol or Visit Bath you are front and centre stage of our recovery campaign.
What does it cost?
TXGB charge 2.5% plus VAT per transaction. In addition, each website will have its own commission costs and there are small transaction fees from Stripe to process the card payment. Visit Bristol and Visit Bath charge 2.5%, meaning sales gained via either of our consumer websites cost a total 5% of the sale. Other sites will vary. You are free to opt-in and opt-out of different website channels whenever you wish. There is no cost to be listed and available to buy, the only costs are commission and card processing fees when you make a sale.
