An important part of the Convention Bureau’s activity is researching and targeting international association conferences. These events are long lead and often take place over multiple days, link with the region’s economic sector strengths and provide a positive economic impact for the destination.
To support this activity the Convention Bureau are an ICCA member, (The International Congress and Convention Association), which provides valuable industry insight and access to their global database of 21,000 events.
If you are an event organiser, academic or industry expert and are considering bidding for an event within your field, we can help. We are experts at selling our destination, have in depth knowledge of the facilities available and offer free venue and accommodation finding services. We are well connected and can make introductions to event suppliers and people within the city who can enhance the event bid.
We can also support you in applying for the VisitBritain Business Event Growth Fund, which offers up to £20K to support event bids or the internationalisation of the event. More details on this can be viewed here.
