Piano Day - the global celebration of the instrument founded by Nils Frahm - takes place on Saturday 29 March, filling the venue with the rich, expressive sounds of the piano. Taking place on the 88th day of the year to reflect the 88 keys of the piano, this international event brings together musicians and music lovers alike, with Bristol Beacon’s tribute promising to be a highlight of the cultural calendar.
Throughout the day, Bristol Beacon will be alive with activity, inviting the public to take part in an unmissable open piano session from 2:00pm at the venue's Bridgehouse. Whether an experienced pianist, a total novice or simply eager to play, anyone is welcome to step up and perform. Pianists will be allocated a 15-minute slot on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring as many people as possible have the opportunity to fill the space with live music.
From 5:00pm, eight talented pianists from Bristol Beacon’s musical community will take to the keys, bringing a unique showcase of styles and sounds that reflect the city’s deep connection to music.
As the evening unfolds, the celebration will conclude with a special performance by the enigmatic pianist and composer Lambert, taking place in Beacon’s Lantern Hall. Known for his deeply emotive, cinematic compositions, Lambert has attracted audiences around the world with his masked persona and unique approach to contemporary piano music. Premiering his latest album, Actually Good, live for the very first time - this will be a rare and exclusive opportunity to hear his newest work in its entirety. The concert promises to be an unforgettable experience for fans of modern classical and atmospheric soundscapes.
Blending public participation and world-class performance, Piano Day, combined with the significance of Lambert’s album debut, is a must for fans of modern-classical music.
The open piano sessions and community performances are free for all, while Lambert’s performance is a ticketed event. Tickets for Lambert’s performance start at £19.80 and are available now on the Bristol Beacon website. The concert begins at 7:00pm.
