The frequency of the A1 and A3 Airport Flyer will be increased both during the day and night, seeing more journeys than ever, with seven additional buses added to the fleet.

It follows record numbers of customers and staff using the service, which last year saw the A1 bus carry more than 1 million passengers. Combined with the Weston-super-Mare A3, a total of 1.3 million Flyer journeys were made in 2024, ensuring customers could travel to reconnect with family and friends, and take holidays and business trips, in a more sustainable way.

The new timetable, which goes live next month (April), means the Airport can offer customers even more flexibility, no matter what time their flight is departing or arriving. Overall there will be an 88% increase in frequency. It is hoped it will enable more people to use public transport as a means of travelling to and from the Airport.

From Sunday 6 April, the A1 that runs from Bristol Temple Meads via Bedminster will be available every eight minutes from 7am – 7pm, and overnight a bus will be available every 30 minutes.

The A3 which currently runs from Weston-super-Mare via Worle Station, Congresbury and Cleeve will be increasing its services by more than 60% during the day, and by night (7pm – 7am) increasing from 10 services to 16.

Ed Condon, Transport Development Manager, Bristol Airport explained: “We’re thrilled there is demand for this service, and following feedback, we realise how important it is to our customers that buses are available regularly no matter what time it is. Passengers travelling from Bristol will be able to turn up knowing a bus will be along in a few minutes. We hope it will make a difference for those taking early morning flights or arriving late at night, and will encourage even more people to use public transport, if they can.

“During the day the A3 will mostly run every half-an-hour. And at night the service will be increased to at least hourly.”

It’s not just customers who benefit, all Airport staff can use the A1 and A3 Flyer for free, and with the increased service it’s even easier for staff who live locally in South Bristol or Weston-super-Mare to get to and from work any time of day.

As the Airport continues to grow, reducing waiting times for the Flyer is crucial to providing good customer service and maximising opportunities for the local community to work at Bristol Airport.

The new timetable will be available on the Airport’s website from Sunday 6 April. Tickets can be pre-booked or customers can simply hop on and pay by card or contactless. There is a transport page on the Airport’s website helping passengers work out the cost of various modes of transport and the journey times. It’s recommended customers sign up to our Rewards email to receive regular offers on the Flyer, Parking, Fast Track and much more.
