Prior Park Landscape Garden in Bath, will be opening its gates on Friday 14 February for Valentine’s Day. A popular choice among couples for romantic strolls, the garden, cared for by the National Trust, has witnessed many proposals over the years.

Valentine’s Day will also mark the return of the garden opening daily for the season, 10am-5pm (last entry 4pm).

The Palladian bridge will have one of its ‘windows’ dressed with dried hydrangeas for Valentine’s Day, ready to catch a memory on camera. Visitors will also find willow hearts throughout the garden, which will remain there for February half term.

Rachel Beaumont, Senior Visitor Experiences Officer, said, “The Palladian bridge has been the setting for many romantic moments. Creative volunteers will be adding some floral decorations to the bridge for visitors to enjoy on their visit. It is the perfect day to launch the 2025 main season and we are excited to be back open seven days a week.”

The landscape garden was created in the 18th century by local entrepreneur Ralph Allen, with advice from 'Capability' Brown and the poet Alexander Pope. Set in a sweeping valley above Bath, visitors can enjoy magnificent views over the city. Home to one of only four Palladian bridges in the world, its reflections can be enjoyed in the middle lake, with the trickling sound of the cascade in the background.

Standard admission applies. For opening times and prices please visit nationaltrust.org.uk/prior-park.
