KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar in Clifton launches new lunchtime Teishoku (定食) Japanese set meal. Priced at just £16.90, the new set meal is available Monday to Friday, from 12pm to 3.30pm.
You’ll find Teishoku set meals pretty much the width and breadth of Japan – they’re a staple in numerous restaurants and cafes across the county. They are based on the typical “ichiju sansai” style of Japanese home cooking, meaning, ‘one soup, three dishes’, the route to a well-balanced diet in Japan. Whilst the individual elements of a Teishoku may vary from location to location, the make-up of the whole menu follows the same basic formula:
Main + Sides + Rice + Soup
The lunchtime Teishoko at KIBOU will include classics such as chicken karaage, prawn tempura and kabocha korokke (pumpkin croquettes), or signature KIBOU Volcano or vegan Yasai Volcano Futomaki roll. This will be accompanied by a bowl of furikake rice, edamame beans (with choice of topping), tsukemono (seasonal Japanese pickles), salmon tataki, goma wakame (seaweed salad), and a bowl of homemade miso soup.
