Visit West's Managing Director has responded to Bristol City Council's approval of an amendment to their 2025 budget, to undertake a study into the possibility of introducing a tourist tax in the city:
"This week, Bristol City Council announced a feasibility study into ‘Tourism Taxes’ such as the ABID that is currently in operation in a couple of English cities. We look forward to working with them in the art of the possible, given that there is a slightly more complex landscape in the area compared to those currently in operation. Sector specific Business Improvement Districts in the visitor economy have been operating in many places and so this is an opportunity to review these formally."
