A favourite for Bristol shoppers looking to make a difference with their shopping habits, the team at Sparks Bristol has been untangling fairy lights and dusting off baubles to transform the former Marks & Spencer building into a must-visit stop for gifts, to help Bristol local shoppers buy sustainably this season.
With a winter grotto, a story festival, gift and food donation points, cookie-making workshops and an upcycling centre, there’s plenty on offer this December to delight conscious shoppers…
Global Gift Showcase
The Global Gift Showcase on the Saturday 7th December will see an array of over 40 gifts, crafts and food traders on show representing more than 20 of Bristol's diverse communities. The showcase provides Bristol shoppers with an easy way to support local artists and craftspeople, as well as solving any festive shopping dilemmas with original gift ideas.
Outside the box gifts
Visitors to Sparks this season can think outside the (gift)box and surprise their loved ones by repairing a favourite broken object at the Repair Cafe, or lovingly mending an item of clothing with Re-thrindle, the in-store haberdashery. Similarly, shoppers can look to try their hand at making their own gifts, by upcycling an old sweater into a new Christmas jumper and gift without waste by purchasing unique experiences for friends and family, like a massage at The Massage Boutique or a personalised styling session, all while supporting local, independent businesses.
Busy V Bakery
At the heart of the store is Busy V Bakery, a place for shoppers to unwind, take a break and enjoy a cuppa and a slice of vegan cake. Those feeling creative can try their hand at making their own festive biscuits - did someone say Grinch cookie?!
Along with these special activities, Sparks Bristol host regular mending workshops, repair cafes, exhibitions and its independent shops are open seven days a week until Christmas, 10 - til 6pm Monday to Saturday and 11 - 5pm Sunday.
