In Broadmead, Sparks Bristol have been untangling fairy lights and dusting off baubles to transform the former Marks and Spencers building into a winter wonderland full of stories and magic with beautiful local, sustainable gifts for all the family. Visit their winter grotto, listen to a story, drop off gifts and food at donation points, make some cookies or upcycle a Christmas jumper! The weather outside may be frightful, but inside the massage cabin it’s delightful, you can take a break from your shopping with a speedy shoppers massage or beauty treatment then grab a cuppa and vegan cake from Busy V Bakery located in the heart of the store.

Re-discover the joy of reading and step into Sparks on the 30th November for the Festival Of Stories, a celebration of storytelling showcasing written talent and creativity from in-store book shop Paper Tales. This packed day of activities includes live performances of poetry, spoken word, children, adult and queer storytelling as well as talks and workshops where participants can hone their poetry skills, learn the art of bookbinding and enjoy free craft activities. Story themed fancy dress strongly encouraged!

Tis the season to get festively creative. Try your hand at making a Christmas stocking or upcycle an old sweater into your new favourite Christmas jumper. Rudolph, Santa, snowflakes, dinosaurs, the possibilities are endless! At Busy V Bakery there’s the chance to make your own festive biscuits, Grinch cookie anybody?!

Sparks are on a mission to encourage everyone to Gift Well this year by considering the environment and your local communities when choosing where to buy thoughtful gifts for friends and family. The talented Sparks traders are fully stocked and ready to inspire you with environmentally friendly and locally sourced gift ideas. Explore over 100 independent traders on our ground floor selling a huge choice of beautiful clothing, books, jewellery, stickers and plants.

The Global Gift Showcase on the 7th December promises to be a fabulous array of over 40 gifts, crafts and food traders representing more than 20 of Bristol's diverse communities. Support local artists and craftspeople as well as solve your festive shopping dilemmas with original gift ideas.

For consumerless gifts, think outside the (present) box and surprise someone by repairing a favourite broken object at the Repair Cafe or lovingly mend an item of clothing with Re-thrindle, the in-store haberdashery. Consider buying an experience, there’s no waste and you’d be supporting independent businesses in your local area. Do you know someone who’d appreciate a massage in a log cabin or who’d love a personalised styling session?

Along with these special activities Sparks Bristol have regular mending workshops, repair cafes, exhibitions and independent shops open seven days a week until Christmas, 10 - til 6pm Monday to Saturday and 11 - 5pm Sunday.
