What to Expect!
By honouring all things light and joyful we mark Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, that will be celebrated on Friday 1 November 2024.
This fun-filled event promises to captivate you with an array of entertainment that will be enjoyed by all ages! Start the evening with some creative workshops followed by pop-up food stalls, screening of Joyland film (2022, Age rating 15) by Aakanksha Lekharaju, and a captivating Indian dance performance by Odissi Dancer Dakshina Raghavendr. For our grand finale, join us at the museum garden to watch a spectacular fire dancing show (starting at 8:30pm)!
Attendees of our FREE creative workshop will have the opportunity to make decorative light-up flowers inspired by the neon illuminations of Chila Kumari Singh Burman that adorn the
museum’s facade. In our pre-booked family workshop (£3.00) get festival ready by creating decorative garlands made from beads and textile materials.
To guarantee your spot on the decorative garland making workshop (only a limited number of spaces available so get them whilst you still can!) click on the link below. Pre booking is essential

Alongside these workshops, a variety of food and drink will be available to purchase from food stalls run on site by Sepoy club and Maya, and a local Indian chef, Krishnaa Shyam Sundar, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.
Holburne’s Festival of Light is an inclusive event and welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds, so whether you’re a frequent visitor to the Holburne, or wanting to come and explore for the first time, this event is the perfect opportunity to connect, learn and celebrate together!
