WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre in Gloucestershire, has opened its brand-new Halloween Light Trail. The exciting new trail is running every evening throughout October half term, from Friday 25 October – Sunday 3 November.

When the sun sets at WWT Slimbridge, a magical world comes alive. This October Half Term visitors can experience the wonder of nature in a whole new light with the centre’s spooktacular Halloween Light Trail.

Explore WWT Slimbridge after hours

Visitors will embark on a twilight journey through a world of pumpkins, shipwrecks, and scarecrows, where they’ll encounter the Marsh Witch and Bog Wizard. Attendees can make a wish for nature with the witch in the magical pond zone, get creative in the arts and crafts area, or warm up with a sweet treat by toasting marshmallows over the firepit.

Exclusive SENS Sessions for a Relaxed Experience

WWT Slimbridge is also offering specially designed SENS sessions on Friday 25 October. These sessions are crafted to provide a more accessible, relaxed environment for individuals who may be sensitive to intense sensory experiences. SENS sessions feature softer lighting during twilight, toned-down background music, and a gentler performance from actors, ensuring all guests can enjoy the magic of Halloween in comfort.

Spooktacular Street Food

As well as magical marshmallow toasting, the Kingfisher Kitchen at WWT Slimbridge will have spooktacular street food on offer. There will be no tricks, only treats with pulled pork, BBQ jackfruit and Aberdeen Angus burgers, along with dirty fries and giant onion rings.

The event, which has run for two weekends already this season, has received overwhelmingly positive reviews with one visitor commenting on Facebook:

This was amazing! We are WWT members and always have fun at Slimbridge, but my family and I had a wonderful night…Staff were attentive and enthusiastic, and the atmosphere was perfect! Thank you for such a great experience.”
