Sparks Bristol is getting cosy and holding some creative events to inspire you this Autumn.

On Saturday the 16 November the talented people at Re-thrindle and Weaving Change are holding a day dedicated to slow fashion. The Slow Fashion Playground will feature a range of workshops and activities, mending, crochet, a scrappy fashion show, craft supply swap and open talks focused on reimagining how people interact with fashion.

Re_Thrindle’s mending and upcycling workshops focus on using reclaimed materials and existing clothes in our wardrobes offering visitors a chance to revive their much-loved fashion items. Marcie K will be on hand to help you upcycle your footwear, bring a pair of your own shoes and unleash your creativity with Guildlane paints.

The event will include an interactive display allowing visitors to try out Weaving Change’s new mobile application Swerv. Swerv is the ultimate ‘clueless wardrobe’ app in which users can digitalise their wardrobes and try on their own clothes to their avatar, helping users to find new outfits without buying new!

“We’re really excited to open up the conversations around sustainable fashion in the heart of Bristol’s shopping region, showcasing all the different ways in which we can engage in fashion outside of shopping!” – Weronika Stelmach, Chief Operating Officer, Weaving Change Limited

The event can be found on Headfirst and is organised on a pay-as-you-can basis with a ticketed after party.

Saturday the 30 November sees the Festival of Stories landing in store to celebrate storytelling in all its forms. With over 20 authors, poets and storytellers it’s the perfect chance to be inspired and meet fellow book lovers.

The packed programme includes book binding workshops (book via Eventbrite) book swaps, readings, talks, delicious food, craft activities, tarot card readings and children’s storytelling.

Organised by Paper Tales the festival aims to spread the joy of stories to as many people as possible, book themed fancy dress is strongly encouraged!
