Ignite your Caveman Curiosity' at Cheddar Gorge & Caves and join us for an action-packed day of adventure. Imagine what it would be like to live in the Stone Age, from 25 July – 1 September you can! This summer, Caveman Curiosity shines the spotlight on our inventive and curious Stone Age ancestors.

Journey back in time and be immersed in a fun and educational Stone Age experience and find out what it was like to live in pre-historic Britain compared to our modern way of life in the 21st Century. Our hunter-gatherers will bring your Stone Age adventure to life with live demonstrations and talks. Watch the ancient art of fire lighting and tool making and join our fascinating 'Life in the Stone Age' talk.

There will be a chance to ask our knowledgeable hunter-gatherers questions about life in the Stone Age, photo opportunities for those wanting to dress up in pre-historic costume and a museum quiz where you can learn lots of new facts, discover amazing artefacts unearthed in the Cheddar area and find out what life was like here in Cheddar Gorge.

Our interactive Tunnel through Time trail is sure to ignite your inner caveman curiosity as you walk in the footsteps of your ancestors around the stunning Gough’s Cave and beautiful gorge landscape. Test your knowledge and learn about Stone Age entertainment, shopping, education, health, language and communication. Upon completion of all the tasks on the trail, participants will be rewarded with a limited-edition themed sticker.

What's included in your day ticket? Your Caveman Curiosity adventure is included in the price of a day ticket, which gives access to six exciting attractions. Explore Gough’s Cave, our spectacular stalactite show cave where Cheddar Man, Britain’s oldest, most-complete human skeleton was unearthed and find out about his amazing DNA discovery. Discover our new multimedia experience, ‘Yeo’s Journey’ in Cox’s Cave that tells the captivating story of how our iconic caves were formed and evolved through the ‘power of water’. Join our Caveman Curiosity event in the Museum of Pre-History. Find out more about the local history, wildlife and plants in our Beyond the View cinema experience. Venture up the 274 steps of Jacob’s Ladder to The Lookout Tower and the Cliff-Top Walk where you will enjoy stunning views of the gorge and Mendip Hills - a landscape that has been millions of years in the making!
