Bath Assembly Rooms will shortly be kicking off a six-week partnership with Brick Galleria to bring LEGO® Brick Paintings to visitors and families in Bath this summer. From Saturday 27 July until Sunday 1 September 2024, a brand-new free exhibition of LEGO® Brick Paintings will be on display in the magnificent Tea Room.
One of the pieces featured is ‘A Georgian day out’ based on nearby National Trust property Dyrham Park. This painting, along with 15 others, has never been displayed before, so this will be the first time anyone can see Emily Corl’s new collections.
'As an artist I love to push the boundaries with my art and I am so excited to be working with Bath Assembly Rooms to bring my paintings to the public,' said Emily Corl LEGO® Brick Artist. 'I am inspired by the amazing countryside and architecture in the British Isles and showing my exhibition will hopefully encourage others to be creative and get inspired as well.'
The exhibition provides inspiration to the rest of the summer activities. Kevin Hall, Brick Galleria’s professional LEGO® Brick Artist will be running free LEGO® Brick Painting Workshops every Wednesday and Saturday.
Families, visitors and LEGO® loving adults can come and have a go at creating LEGO® Brick Paintings using hundreds and thousands of different LEGO® parts that will be available. The creations will be displayed for a limited time in the Great Octagon. Workshops are open to everyone aged 4 or older.
For younger visitors there’s a DUPLO® pit in the Card Room alongside other National Trust run crafts that will keep everyone entertained.
‘We’re so excited to be partnering with Brick Galleria this year,’ said Alana Wright, Bath Assembly Rooms Visitor and Programming Manager. ‘This summer programme has something for everyone, whether a LEGO® fan or not. We’ve got a brilliant new exhibition and lots of activities with the workshops plus the school holiday crafts that people have started to associate with Bath Assembly Rooms.’
Vital conservation funds will also be raised during the exhibition as Emily Corl is creating a custom LEGO® brick painting of Bath Assembly Rooms. We’re inviting people to sponsor Emily for a suggested donation of £2 per LEGO® part. She’ll then place the part on the painting when she’s at Bath Assembly Rooms on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the summer. During the final week of the exhibition, the finished artwork will be on display for people to see.
