Visit West today launches a new Visit Bristol website. The site showcases Bristol’s independent spirit and everything there is to see and do in the city and the surrounding region. The design is clean and fresh with images chosen to reflect Bristol’s colourful, cultural, and unique vibe and capture the user’s attention.

VisitBristol.co.uk now puts sustainability at the forefront of its build by reducing its carbon footprint with more consistent font weights and sizes, compressed images, and sparingly placed video content. Accessibility features are an extremely important part of the design with accessible fonts, high colour contrasts and spacing. Designed with a mobile first approach, as over two-thirds of the traffic to the website is via mobile, there are scrolling features, bold colours for highlights and easy to use filters, the site also looks appealing on a desktop view. There are clear starting points with information presented in a simpler more inspiring way to improve user experience and help the user navigate easily around the site.

The website was designed by Simpleview – the travel and tourism industry’s leading global provider of digital marketing systems and technologies for destinations – in collaboration with the team at Visit West.

Kathryn Davis, Managing Director, Visit West says: “There has been a huge amount of work behind the scenes in the development of this new site.  We have been working with partners locally and with the team at Simpleview to actively reduce the carbon impact of the site, by employing new techniques and develop a new way of delivering visitor inspiration and information.  This is the 6th site launch by Visit West since its inception in 2021, and so the team should be proud of their huge achievement in raising the bar again in digital destination marketing.”

Visit Bristol’s social media channels have increased presence within the website using ‘Crowdriff’ galleries showing user generated content to display eye-catching and authentic images of Bristol. Content and inspiration from locals and experts in the city feature across many pages with blogs woven into the website more organically, offering users the most up-to-date and relevant information.

The new website also offers fresh sponsorship opportunities for members, businesses and events and sponsored content will be clearly marked as such. Development of the site will continue over the next few months with the addition of more user generated content, interactive maps, a first-time visitor page, dynamic content and micro-sites.
