Beautifully Proud will see a month-long programme of events, activities, exhibitions and performances for all ages across multiple venues throughout Pride Month in June.
Working in partnership with local organisations such as the Proud Bar and Community Hub, North Somerset LGBT+ Forum, Bridging the Gap Together, Weston Museum, Blakehay Theatre and The Front Room, Weston-super-Mare Town Council has curated a programme of events throughout June to celebrate Pride Month. The town is going to shine a light on what it has to offer the community year-round and showcase the support available to its residents.
As part of Beautifully Proud, Weston-super-Mare Town Council will be joining in with the celebrations and flying the Pride flag throughout the month. Local businesses will also be approached to actively promote their venues as welcoming and inclusive spaces for all. Those who sign up to the scheme will receive a sticker to proudly display to their customers showing their support of a more inclusive Weston-super-Mare.

Weston Museum will be hosting the first ever Beautifully Proud Exhibition from 25 – 29 June. Curated by Proud Bar and Community Hub, Bridging the Gap Together and the North Somerset LGBT+ Forum, the exhibition is a celebration of local queer people both past and present.
The Blakehay will be hosting an evening of cabaret with the fabulous Bow Tie Boys who some may recognise from the Blakehay’s Christmas Panto, Jack and the Beanstalk.
To top it all off, make sure to grab your tickets to the returning Good Old Gays 2 at The Front Room. A naughty night of song, dance, comedy, drag and variety as we commemorate icons of LGBTQ performing arts.
Councillor James Clayton, Chair of the Community Services Committee, Weston-super-Mare Town Council said: “We are incredibly excited to be part of the Beautifully Proud project. Weston-super-Mare is a diverse and vibrant town and we feel that this programme of events shines a spotlight on what can be achieved through collaborative working. As the Town Council we are always looking for new ways to better support the communities of Weston-super-Mare. With such a wealth of support available year-round, we wanted to take the opportunity to showcase our town as an inclusive and welcoming place all year round.”
