UPFEST PRESENTS has today announced street art legends Inkie, Jody, Audrey Kawasaki and many more - from across all four corners of the globe - to join its 17-day cultural programme. With hundreds of artists set to transform the city’s visuali-landscape between Friday 17 May - Sunday 2 June 2024, the UPFEST PRESENTS Crowdfunder will come to an end this week - on Sunday 14 April.
Back under a new guise, UPFEST PRESENTS is returning with a stellar line-up of artists that will bring fresh paint to the city’s creative landscape, with 200 murals and artworks set to be painted across BS3, as well as creative workshops in partnership with Yuup, artists panels, comedy, theatre, street art tours and more taking place for the entire community to get involved with.
With just four days to go to raise the essential funds required to host this stand-out event, the team behind UPFEST PRESENTS is calling out for any final donations to its Crowdfunder. UPFEST has always been free-to-attend, and the team behind the cultural programme want this year to be as accessible to everyone as possible; with as little as £5 going towards lunch for one of the incredible volunteers, £10 providing an artist with three cans of spray paint and a £25 contribution rewarded with an exclusive T-shirt from headline artist Mister Samo.
Inviting artists of all mediums to join the street-art-extravaganza, UPFEST fans can expect Bristol legends and global sensations such as Audrey Kawasaki, Inkie, .EPOD, A L Grime, Aspire, Liam Bononi, Jagung, Artez, Georgie Webster, HazardOne and more to join headline artist, Mister Samo to unleash total creativity on the city.
Synonymous with Bristol’s street art scene and culture is none other than Inkie who will be adding another of his signature murals to Bedminster. Known as one of the most prolific graffiti artists and the world’s original street artists, fans can witness another legendary mural unfold in real time.
Japanese-American and Los Angeles-based painter, Audrey Kawasaki, is known for her distinctive portrayals of young, adolescent women. Growing up reading Japanese manga comics, this inspired Audrey to start drawing from a young age and her work often constraints contrasting themes of innocence and eroticism which conveys the mysterious intrigue of the feminine sensuality.
Fusing concept paintings, graffiti and fine art, .EPOD’s work is instantly recognisable. The London-based artist has a distinctive style that encourages a timeless journey into the imagination that creates an alluring glimpse into the visions of the future.
Venturing across the pond, UPFEST PRESENTS will welcome Venezuela-American, A L Grimes to Bristol to showcase her exploration of the human experience through art. Her work is centred on the chaos of overstimulation and the information fatigue of everyday life in a technology-centred world.
Noted as one of the Guardian’s Top 5 UK female graffiti artists, and top 25 female street artists by The Huffington Post, HazardOne was one of the first artists to paint for the Upfest 75 Walls in 75 Days, and is also known for her portraits of women, community murals and detailed floral pieces.
Also joining the line-up of artists painting this year is leading Serbian street artist and muralist, Artez. His mix of photorealism and illustrations has taken him all over the world, with his murals focusing on the dialogue between the artwork and its viewers.
Bristol-based designer and artist Jody has been painting for over 30 years and has created some of the most iconic artworks within the city, such as Greta Thunberg on the Tobacco Factory. His work explores themes of emotional depth that lurk below the surface through a darkly glamorous aesthetic.
UPFEST PRESENTS is aiming to reach its Crowdfunder target of £10,000 to support all the artists, activities and workshops, with a reward system in place to incentivise donations. This target is complimented by the support already being received from Arts Council England.
