Queer Vision, Bristol Pride’s LGBT+ film festival, returns in 2024 and submissions from South West short film filmmakers are now open.
As a selection partner for the Iris Prize the winning selection from Queer Vision will be the South West regions selection for the coveted Best of British category and will be automatically entered into the final selection. This is an exciting opportunity for establishing filmmakers with the chance to win the world’s largest LGBT+ short film prize; £30,000 for the winner to make their next LGBT+ short film plus a package of support, equipment, and crew from the prestigious Pinewood Studios Group.
In addition films from the Best of British shortlist will also be broadcast on Film4 and streamed on Channel 4 for one year.
Now in its eleventh year, Queer Vision believes in the power of film for social change and boasts a diverse international programme of LGBT+ short and feature films annually, screening at Watershed, the film festival base as well as various other venues across Bristol, as part of the annual Pride festival which this year runs from Saturday 29 June to Sunday 14 July.
Submissions open on Friday 1 March and welcomes films that are created by LGBT+ filmmakers or have a specific focus on queer storytelling. Entries will be shortlisted and the best of the submission screened as part of Queer Visions South West Shorts screening at Watershed.
To be eligible, all entries should be submitted from UK citizens or those who have been resident in the UK for at least three consecutive years prior to submitting your film. Film submissions should be for, about, or of interest to LGBT+ audiences, and must have been completed since 1st June 2022, with a running time of 39 minutes or less.
Queer Vision is accepting work from persons in the areas of Bath & NE Somerset, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Isles of Scilly, Isle of Wight, North Somerset, Plymouth, Poole, Portsmouth, Southampton, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, Torbay or Wiltshire.
