After a successful first year, the Bath Beast returns with a new start and finish venue at the University of Bath. Julian House is thrilled to partner again with Pulse Events and colleagues from its Bike Workshop, to challenge cyclists on 7 July with this epic cycling sportive. The only way to see Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire on 2 wheels in one day!

The three challenging distances, with the longest route measuring (100 miles) will take in the scenic sights of the Westbury White Horse and the mighty Gare Hill plus stunning views of Shearwater Lake. All routes will return riders through Bath City Centre before climbing back up to Claverton Down for the finish line.

Event fundraiser for Julian House, Rachel Avent, said: "Julian House had wanted a Bike Event in their fundraising calendar for a while and with the launch of the Bath Beast in 2023 and rave reviews from the cyclists, it was the start of something special. It’s called the Beast for a reason; everyone knows Bath for its challenging hills and stunning views and this event is now Bath’s only bike event in the year. We were unlucky with the weather last year with heavy rain making the routes even more difficult, but the sense of achievement after the event was fantastic."

This year’s Bath Beast has a new home at the University of Bath on 7 July. Team Bath was excited to provide Julian House with the new venue and it will be great for the cyclists to see the superb, World Class facilities on offer at the Sports Village, where participants and their families can make use of overnight accommodation the night before and soak up the atmosphere of Team GB’s home.

There are three incredible routes to choose from; the 100-mile (160km) and 70-mile (112km) distances are both designed to challenge the most dedicated of riders and the 25-mile (40km) route will provide a fantastic opportunity for cyclists wanting to discover the undulating hills around Bath. The routes are measured in miles (yes, you did read that correctly) and will require riders to activate their Beast Mode, find their inner Beast and push themselves to their limits as they take on some incredible hills and long steady climbs.

4 feed stations along the route are sponsored by HIGH5, sports nutrition specialists and with mechanical and medical support too along the way. Organised by the team from Pulse Events, who have been working to make the routes as challenging and safe as possible, the Bath Beast is gaining a reputation for being a sportive not to be missed in 2024.

Early bird entry is now on sale from £35. Cyclists are encouraged to raise sponsorship so that Julian House can continue to deliver quality accommodation and support services which transform the daily lives and futures of people experiencing homelessness and social exclusion.
