At the most charitable time of year, where people facing poverty suffer the most, the Anti Banquet, organised by Josh Eggleton, Team Canteen and Plaster, is calling out for charitable donations to join the fight against food insecurity in Bristol.

The Anti Banquet has seen an abundance of support already - with businesses purchasing tables for their teams - but there’s a twist - it’s the CEOs that will be in the kitchen! The unique event, which will see Simon Rimmer, Josh Eggleton and a ton of other well-known South West foodie names cooking up a storm and showing Bristol bosses the ropes in the kitchen, the event has seen widespread support from the South West and beyond.

Gareth Sweets, CEO of Sweet Projects, has purchased nine tables to support the ambitious aim of raising £100,000 for Bristol Local Food Fund. Sweets Projects is a turnkey construction company that designs, constructs, and manages built environments for the data, defence and energy sectors.

Gareth Sweets said:

"The concept of the Anti Banquet is simply fantastic – it's an opportunity to flip the traditional 'fundraising dinner' on its head, celebrate our teams who would not usually go to events like this, and with the added benefit of seeing their directors helping out in the kitchen, alongside some of Bristol's most exciting professional chefs."

"We're so pleased to be able to support the event and donate tables to enable more people to attend, all to raise money for the brilliant Bristol Local Food Fund, who have been instrumental in supporting our city's families and people in need, making such a difference to thousands of lives across the communities we live and work in."

All of the funds raised by the Anti Banquet will go to Bristol Local Food Fund, an organisation run entirely by volunteers who all advocate for food equality throughout Bristol and the Anti-Banquet is calling for businesses to follow in their footsteps and purchase a table to support the cause.

Bristol is one of the most ‘unequal’ cities in the UK, with 12% of its residents relying on food banks weekly. Companies purchasing and donating tables to the Anti Banquet will be contributing to the goal of raising more than £100,000 for the Bristol Local Food Fund, and in turn will support vital community food projects all over the city.

Taking place on the 29 February 2024, the Anti Banquet is inviting businesses to purchase tables for local charities and worthy causes, allowing members of staff who wouldn’t usually attend these events to sit back and relax while their bosses roll their sleeves up and get involved behind the scenes either in the kitchen or as part of the front of house team.

Companies are also being encouraged to donate their tables to a charity of their choosing, allowing their workers to attend the ball, with the intention of giving those who deserve a good time that opportunity all while raising money for such an important cause.

The Anti Banquet wouldn’t be possible without generous donations from its sponsors, including Bristol Beer Factory, who will be supplying beer on the night, and Arthur David, who will be supplying and delivering catering produce and equipment to the event.

The night will be filled with entertainment organised by Team Love and Plaster, with Joe Sims and Jayde Adams hosting the event and some of Bristol’s finest talent, including the Invisible Circus and the 45s keeping guests entertained throughout the night. Not only will there be an evening of incredible acts, there will also be a lucky dip on the night with prizes being donated by collaborating restaurants, Wake The Tiger and many more.

A banquet wouldn’t be complete without a delicious meal, courtesy of voluntary CEO’s and bosses, as well as some of Bristol’s best chefs, handpicked by organiser Josh Eggleton, including Peter Sanchez Iglesias, Ben Harvey, Jude Kereama, Hannah Catley, Shona Graham, Toby Gritten, Simon Rimmer and Ashton Gate’s very own George Opondo.

Josh Eggleton, said:

“This is a unique opportunity to make a real change for some of Bristol’s most vulnerable residents. Some brilliant chefs will be giving up their time to work alongside the leadership of Bristol businesses to create an amazing night for Bristol’s hard working charity sector, public sector teams and their own workforces. As the cost of living crisis worsens, we must secure the future of Bristol’s community food charities to make sure they can keep delivering their services to those most in need in our city.”
