With the days getting shorter and the nights getting colder, everybody comes to Rick’s to get cosy and indulge in some seriously delicious Christmas treats. Introducing festive cocktails that will leave guests feeling merry and bright, the hotel is also welcoming Christmassy afternoon tea and a show-stopping Sunday lunch next door at The River Grille this December.

Rick’s has cemented itself in Bristol’s cocktail scene since launching earlier this year with its signature cocktails, extensive wine list and delicious local bites. Inspired by Hollywood’s classic movies, the little slice of golden age glamour’s new festive cocktail menu has been carefully curated by the expert mixologists at Rick's - and will see six new sips ready to delight, all for enjoying by the roaring fire.

Lasso The Moon, inspired by It’s a Wonderful Life, has Rioja Crianza and cinnamon syrup at its base, with hints of winter fruits and is likened to a winter sangria. Anyone looking for something a little more decadent should try Bah Humbug!: a mint-chocolate coffee cocktail, which unlike Scrooge himself, will leave guests full of joy. Something guaranteed to warm up a winter’s evening is Rick’s I Believe cocktail. Inspired by Miracle on 34th Street, it’s made with a cinnamon apple Calvados and is sure to satisfy any Christmas-cravings

A quick dash through in the cold to the neighbouring restaurant, The River Grille and Lounge, festive afternoon tea is the order of the season. At £25 per person, guests should expect to indulge in some all-time seasonal favourites alongside delectable Bristol-born Bird & Blend tea. The top-tier menu will include finger sandwiches of turkey and cranberry on farmhouse white, cream cheese and cucumber on wholemeal, or smoked salmon and crème fraîche on Guinness bread. Homemade scones will be served with generous dollops of clotted cream and winter berry fruit jam, along with sweet treats to finish, such as Christmas panettone, mince pies, chocolate orange mousse and spiced ginger cake.

For a proper festive feast, head to The River Grille for its hugely popular Sunday lunch which features a live pianist - filling the restaurant with soothing-symphonies and creating a perfectly relaxed atmosphere for Christmas. The River Grille’s elegant and timeless ambience offers a blend of traditional and innovative dishes that deliver everything a hearty roast dinner should. Seasonal menus that are ever-changing and promote the best of local produce may include Sirloin of Buxton beef, slow-roasted pork belly, and sweet potato, feta, onion and truffle pithivier - with all the trimmings and gravy. Starters and desserts are also available, both of which excite the savoury and sweet taste buds. Two courses start at £27, or go for the whole trifecta with three courses at £30.

Festive Afternoon Tea is available from 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm on Thursday until Saturday, , and Sunday lunch between 12:30pm - 2:30pm. And, for the month of December, those who book Sunday Lunch or Afternoon Tea will get free parking in the hotel’s convenient onsite car park.

Bookings are now live on The Bristol’s website, and to keep up to date with all the latest news and announcements from Rick’s and The River Grille, following them on Instagram.
