Tootbus, Bath’s hop-on, hop-off sightseeing bus showcasing the remarkable World Heritage city, has elevated its ‘hop off’ element with the new Pride and Promenade Tootwalk. Crafted by the dedicated local Tootbus team, it allows visitors to follow in Jane Austen’s footsteps.

Whether visitors are coming to Bath for the annual Jane Austen Festival (taking place until 17 September), or simply have an interest in all things Austen, the Pride and Promenade Tootwalk allows them to embark on a journey of discovery and walk in the footsteps of the most influential novelist of all time. Promenade along the streets of Bath with Tootbus’ self-guided walking tour and prepare to discover the inspiration behind some of Jane’s most favoured novels.

The self-guided stroll begins at Stop F on Tootbus Bath's Skyline Tour route, opposite The Holburne Museum and Sydney Place - one of Austen's residences whilst living in Bath. The walking tour covers some of Bath's finest green spaces, such as Sydney Gardens, one of Jane's favourite places to "take the air" after an alfresco breakfast, and Queen Square, where Jane and her mother stayed for a month whilst visiting Bath in the summer of 1799. It also incorporates some of Bath's finest architecture, including The Assembly Rooms, The Circus and The Royal Crescent - the most fashionable address in the Regency era. All locations feature in Austen's Northanger Abbey and Persuasion novels.

Promenading through the streets of Bath, the tour ends at Terrace Walk close to Sally Lunn's - one of Jane's favourite places and home to the famous Bath Bun. The walk takes around 50 minutes to complete with GPS triggered audio commentary available through the Tootbus app giving added value to the tours. Simply launch the Tootbus app and enjoy a personalised audio tour and information about the area, available in English, French, and Spanish.

A map of the walk can be viewed on the Tootbus app, available to download via the Apple Store and Google Play.
