The Bath Business Conference is a one-day event arranged by Bath Business Improvement District with the help of leading local businesses and organisations. It is being held at the Apex Hotel on 29 September 2023 with doors opening at 9.30am.
The event itself covers a range of discussion topics and will include a networking lunch with new Bath resident, international media figure, Sharanjit Leyl.
Last year’s conference was very well attended with almost 200 local businesses coming together to raise the pressing issues facing their
operations. The organisers have been guided by local businesses in creating the content. Allison Herbert CEO of Bath BID is enthusiastic about the conference: "we are grateful to have so many business leaders willing to commit their time to sharing conversations and trying to make improvements in the city."
The conference will cover 3 themes including Living and Working Well in Bath, The Brand of Bath and The Future of Work in Bath with every part of the event offering inspiration and knowledge as well as an opportunity for local businesses to be heard.
Bath BID has consulted with local employees to find out ‘what it is like to live in Bath and the findings of that survey will be shared during of the
Living and Working Well session. With Lynne Fernquest of Bath Chronicle and now CEO of Bath Rugby Foundation in the chair and supporting panellists from the worlds of employee wellbeing and experts in regeneration such as Pippa Garlland from Bath Mind, James Scott from Stories, Lucy Cotterell from Mogers Drewett and Toby Howkins from WECA, this is guaranteed to be a positive and thought-provoking session. If you don’t want to sit back and listen, the Brand of Bath workshop (which runs at the same time as Living and Working Well in Bath) will be an interactive session hosted in partnership with Visit West. Expect to be asked to think, be creative and come up with bold ideas. Businesseswho join this workshop will learn tactics to help them think about their own branding whilst sharing their ideas about the brand of our city. Led by
Kathryn Davis, Managing Director of Visit West, supported by Tarquin McDonald CEO of Bath Rugby and creatively designed by Sue Bush of The Co-Foundry, this workshop is billed as fun and purposeful.
The future of technology and what it means for work skills, income and our own vision of how the world of work will be is a key topic in the news right
now. At the Bath Business Conference, The Future of Work will consider this theme from a technological as well as a human perspective. Speakers
include tech specialists, Lucy Paine, Renee Jacobs and Jim Morrison as well as David Hobdey and representatives from our universities. The real headliner will be Richard Godfrey from Rocketmakers who is bringing along his friendly avatar of Barack Obama. Prepare to be astonished and inspired.
As well as the workshops, the Bath Business Conference is a great opportunity to network with other local businesses, especially over lunch with International Broadcaster and Moderator, Sharanjit Leyl who will share with us her expert international perspective on the enduring appeal of Bath and what we should all be doing to protect our wonderful city.
Tickets for the networking lunch should be purchased in advance.
The Apex is a perfect hotel to host our conference, with great facilities and several different locations for our various activities. Teas and coffees will be served during the day and there will also be fun activities as well as useful information stands. The day finishes at 3.45pm, but please join us at Bath Pizza Co in Green Park Station and carry on the conversation.
