Following the success of last year’s sell out Luxmuralis: Space Voyager at Bristol Cathedral, a spectacular new light show is set to adorn the historic building in a stunning exploration of creation and the cultural significance of the four elements. The light show, which will take place from Monday 30 October - Saturday 4 November, will consider Fire, Air, Earth and Water’s relationship with religion, mythology and art history in its show-stopping visuals.

Luxmuralis, a collaborative team of multidisciplinary artists, seek to take their art to interesting areas and structures to provide access to visual artwork in public, and often unexpected, spaces. Their combining of light and sound, as well as fully curated fine art, take audiences on creative journeys of incredible architectural feats around the world.

The collective's latest project, Force of Nature, is set to delight visitors to Bristol Cathedral this Autumn as it combines ancient architecture with modern creative interpretation. Taking viewers on a journey through each individual element, the cathedral will be divided into four sections, each representing a different one.

Visitors will first witness the flaming power of volcanoes as an exploration of Fire. Then, they will be immersed in the sky and environment as a conveyance of Air. Next, they will watch as the Earth evolves through dramatic historic and artistic imagery. The installation will end in the Nave, immersing visitors in the immensity of the oceans and storms, while sharing great stories linked to Water.

Frances Rosewell, Visitor Experience Director at Bristol Cathedral, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Luxmuralis team once again, to bring another spectacle to the Cathedral. The installation will entirely transform the space, and will use every available inch of our home to create what will inevitably be a show-stopping experience for many. We hope that this installation will leave people feeling inspired, in touch with the world around them and inclined to revisit the Cathedral for more exciting projects in the future.”

Lead artist and artistic director, Peter Walker, said: “We wanted to create a show that explores the elements in a way that has not been done before. Our talented team of artists has curated an installation that is truly unique, which will bring something new and very special to the iconic historical space of Bristol Cathedral.”

To ensure that the installation is accessible to as many people as possible, viewers will be able to attend a Quiet Hour version of the experience. There will also be level access and a hearing loop.

Upon purchasing a ticket to Force of Nature, visitors will also have access to the bar, with a selection of nature inspired drinks including the Cathedral’s own bespoke gin, Chapterhouse, by East Bristol favourite, Espensen Spirit.

Tickets for the installation will go on sale on Thursday 31 August and will be priced at £6.99 for children and £9.99 for adults, with a concession price for NHS and Armed Forces. Tickets will be available for purchase exclusively through Yuup.
