The Bookbinder, a story of mystery and magic, tours to Bath’s Egg Theatre from Thursday 6 to Saturday 8 July. Presented by award-winning New-Zealand company Trick of the Light Theatre, this inventive one-man performance is created by writer, performer and co-founder Ralph McCubbin Howell and director, designer and co-founder Hannah Smith.
Described as “a real delight” by The Guardian, The Bookbinder weaves shadow-play, paper art, puppetry and music, as an old man sits down to read the tale of an erstwhile bookbinding apprentice. Children aged 8 years and over will be immersed in this live-action tale - which fans of Neil Gaiman will enjoy – as it spills out from the page.
Trick of the Light have received many awards, including Best Theatre, Best in the Fringe and Tiki Tour Ready Award at the New Zealand Fringe Festival 2014, the International Excellence Award at Sydney Fringe Festival in 2014, as well as the BDO Children's Theatre Award from Fringe World 2015.
