Bath's Park & Ride services will be extended for two hours on a trial basis on Friday 24 February as Bath & North East Somerset Council looks to better understand passenger demand.
Park & Ride bus services, which normally end at 8:30pm, will run until 10:30pm on Friday to accommodate Bath Rugby’s home game against Bristol Bears, which kicks off at 7:45pm at the Recreation Ground stadium.
Bath & North East Somerset Council has worked with Bath Rugby, West of England Combined Authority and First Bus to arrange the trail extension of its Park & Ride services, with the hope that it encourages more people to use it, reducing traffic into the city centre.
Both Bath Rugby and Bristol Bears are advertising the extended hours trial services, encouraging more fans to take advantage of it.
Councillor Manda Rigby, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “This is great for rugby fans and visitors coming into enjoy the city on Friday, and I’m pleased we’re able to trial it."
“We’re looking forward to seeing the outcome of this trial and will use the information it gives us to help decide what’s best going forward.”
Bath & North East Somerset Council will use the information gathered from the trial and work with Bath Rugby to discuss future options and determine the demand for an extended hours service.
There are three Park & Rides serving Bath, located at Lansdown, Newbridge and Odd Down. Find more information here.
