Continued heavy rainfall is causing flooding in vulnerable parts Bath and North East Somerset as river levels remain high.

Across the area, Bath & North East Somerset Council is working hard to clear roads, clear gullies and debris where teams are able to. The council’s emergency planning team is also helping some residents prepare for any threats to properties. Car parks are being monitored at Bath Hill East and Avon Steet.

The water level along all rivers is expected to continue to rise throughout today and tomorrow (13 January), with a Met Office yellow warning for rain in place until 5pm today (12 January).

The council's teams are monitoring water levels, liaising with the Environment Agency and with neighbouring councils and are preparing to take any action necessary. More updates will be provided on its social media channels.

Councillor Manda Rigby, cabinet member with responsibility for Emergency Management said: “I would like to thank the teams, and our partners, for their swift, pro-active action. A flooding of this nature can have significant impact and I am pleased that we are as prepared as we can be in dealing with the volume of rain predicted.”
