Bristol Airport held its Special Assistance Consultative Forum last week. The Forum gives charities and groups the opportunity to give their feedback on what is important to them when travelling through the airport.
Following a visit of Silver Zone car park, the group toured the terminal which included the check-in areas for special assistance passengers, a review of the security area facilities and process, Airside Special Assistance Area and the new Sensory Room. During the visit the Forum discussed the inclusion of new equipment in special assistance areas throughout the terminal and gained first-hand experience of the hidden disability work completed.
Groups in attendance included: Age UK, Guide Dogs, Colostomy UK, British Disabled Angling Association and members of the Bristol Airport Consultative Committee.
Recently OCS, the Special Assistance provider at Bristol Airport, announced the launch of PRM Assist making it the first Airport in the UK to launch the innovative mobile application solution. PRM Assist is a new assistance booking software that allows passengers requiring assistance to book assistance for all their aviation journeys in one central application. The software allows passengers to receive real-time information on booking confirmation, waiting times for PRM services at airports and updates on delays or important announcements.
Martyn Collings, Operational Support Manager, Bristol Airport said: “These Forums provide a valuable opportunity to listen to feedback from customers. It is always useful to hear from individuals and groups on how we can make travelling through the airport easier for those in need of special assistance. We will continue to work with all the participating groups and we will always seek to improve the experience for our passengers where we can.”
