Kimberly Wyatt and Jay McGuiness are set to make special guest appearances in Friendsical at the Theatre Royal Bath when the comedy musical, inspired by the hugely popular and beloved American TV show Friends, visits the city from Tuesday 11 to Saturday 15 October.
Kimberly Wyatt joins the Friendsical cast in Bath on Tuesday 11, Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 October, performing in musical number ‘Richard’s Moustache’ and making special cameo appearances throughout the show. Best known as a member of dynamic pop band The Pussycat Dolls, Kimberly has also delighted British audiences on screen as a judge for the Sky1 series Got to Dance and was winner of the 2015 series of Celebrity MasterChef.
Kimberly Wyatt said: “I’m very excited to announce that I’ll be a special guest for Friendsical. Friends is an iconic and timeless show which I now have the pleasure to be a part of! I’ve watched the show for many years (who hasn’t) so this is a great joy for me."
Jay McGuiness joins the cast at Bath’s Theatre Royal on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 October. Best known for being a member of acclaimed pop band The Wanted, Jay was winner of the 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing, and also won the first series of Celebrity Hunted in 2017.
Jay McGuiness said: “I literally laughed out loud reading the Friendsical script, so I can’t wait to join the cast and get in front of an audience."
The characters Ross, Rachel, Joey, Monica, Chandler and Phoebe have been on our television screens for nearly 30 years. Friendsical, written and directed by Miranda Larson (The Night Pirates, Christmasaurus, Cartoon Network Live), crams all 10 seasons and 236 episodes into a stage show brimming with nostalgic fun.
Theatre audiences will join all six friends as they sit around the iconic brown couch in Central Perk to take a trip down memory lane with the best inside jokes, unforgettable scenes and storylines, with original songs including ‘(He’s her) Lobster!’ and ‘Richard’s Moustache.'
When Ross’ wife leaves him for another woman, he fears he will never find love again. But when Rachel runs back into his life... could he end up with his one true love? Meanwhile, the gang take on naked Thursdays, a power cut and a dinosaur convention.
Playing everyone’s favourite friends are Sario Solomon as Joey, Sarah Michelle-Kelly as Monica, Nelson Bettencourt as Ross, Tim Edwards as Chandler, Ally Retberg as Phoebe, Amelia Kinu Muus as Rachel, with Ensemble cast members Olivia Williamson and Tanveer Singh Devgun playing multiple roles, including Hot Girl and Gunther.
Writer-director Miranda Larson said, “From day one of airing, I have been a huge fan of the TV Show, and it has been a dream to stage and celebrate this iconic series. There is something for everyone in Friendsical, from the well-known references to ones that only mega fans (like me) will get. Oh, and if you are new to “Friends”, then it’s a fun musical love story that can be easily followed!”
With book and lyrics by Miranda Larson and music by Barrie Bignold, Friendsical is choreographed by Darren Carnall and associate choreographer Michael Vinsen. The set and costume is designed by Anthony Lamble with lighting design by Dominic Jeffrey and sound design by Olly Steel.
Friendsical appears at the Theatre Royal Bath from Tuesday 11 to Saturday 15 October. Tickets are on sale at the Theatre Royal Bath Box Office on +44 (0)1225 448844 and online at www.theatreroyal.org.uk.
