Afrika Eye, the South West’s biggest celebration of African cinema and culture, returns to Bristol from 7 November with a 11-day programme featuring new and classic films, street art, spoken word, dance, music food and photography at city-wide venues.

A highlight of the 2022 festival will be More Than A Number, a photographic exhibition, curated by Cynthia Sitei of Ffotgallery, Cardiff, showcasing images shot by up-and-coming photographers from across Africa, and which will end with a photo symposium at Trinity Arts on 15 November. Other attractions will include:
Film screenings at Arnolfini, The Cube, Windmill Hill City Farm, the University of Bristol and, throughout the weekend of 11-13 November at Watershed.
A food and music event at Co-Exist, Stokes Croft, hosted by Sisanda Myataza and celebrating the life and times of the South African singer, actor and civil rights activist Miriam Makeba.
An Art and Activism event for young people which will include a screening of the documentary Les Fleurs De Bitume and a live Zoom Q&A with the Tunis-based graffiti artist Ouma, who appears in the film.
A screening at Windmill Hill City Farm of the much-feted Somalia-set drama The Gravedigger's Wife with Somali music and food.
Live music in the Watershed café-bar from ‘Harare' - fronted by Zimbabwean musician Kuda Matimba (ex Bhundu Boys) and mixing marimba, mbira and swooping basslines to create irresistible rhythms and accompany uplifting song.
The renowned Zimbabwe-born dancer/choreographer Barwen Tavaziva presenting his powerful and moving new work, Boy's Khaya - a blend of contemporary, ballet and African dance with a spoken-word and music soundscape.
