The world’s largest chicken wing festival, Wing Fest, is returning to the South West this September, paying homage to one of the world’s favourite meals. Bristol Wing Fest is set to take place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September 2022, at the Lloyds Amphitheatre. The huge outdoor area will be transformed into a poultry eating, music thumping, axe throwing, beer and bourbon drinking space of epic proportions.
Bristol Wing Fest will showcase an array of independent restaurants, street food traders and pop-ups, who will display their culinary talents and compete against each other over a whopping 100,000 drums and flats, to answer the age-old question of who makes the best wings in the UK?
The competition is split into two categories: the best buffalo wing; the battle for who can execute the perfect classic spicy sauce, and the best wild wing; where the traders can let their creativity run wild with flavours and toppings to transform a humble chicken wing into a culinary masterpiece.
Bristol’s line-up includes local heroes and current reigning wing champions; Gurt Wings, who officially have the best wings in the UK, after a double whammy win at London Wing Fest, taking home the best buffalo and best wild wing.
Other wing slingers will include the ever-popular Poor Boys, the award-winning Mexican Seoul, and jerk connoisseurs Tasty Ragga, plus many more, and all will be competing to win your vote and guarantee their spot in the hall of flame. 6000 chicken wing devotees will have the opportunity to cast their votes across each of the two categories.
Wing Fest’s legendary competitions will be held on both days, and it’s set to get seriously heated with a deadly Lava Wing Challenge hosted by Clifton Chilli Club - the UK’s hottest wing challenge and renowned for the carnage it causes. If you’re a true wing aficionado, then it’s time for the iconic Bull's-Eye Wing Eating competition hosted by the Food Review Club, where competitors who are hungry and brave enough, compete against each other to see who can eat the most chicken wings - easily the messiest spectacle across the two days.
Bristol Wing Fest goers can expect plenty of beer from Meantime Brewery, entertainment including live blues music, brass bands, bourbon masterclasses, axe throwing and BBQ cooking demonstrations. Cocktails and bourbon masterclasses will be hosted by Horse With No Name and Jameson’s Orange, plus there will be DJs serving the vibes into the night – complete with a wing in hand.
Bristol Wing Fest tickets are on sale now. Ticket start at £17.50 for early birds and £20 thereafter, with kids under 12 going free. Tickets include a Wing Fest signature trucker hat, free access to fairground rides and live music, competitions, masterclasses, cooking demonstrations and games.
