Six of Bath’s parks and green spaces are set to fly the flag for excellence in national awards announced today.

Alexandra Park, Bloomfield Green, Henrietta Park, Hedgemead Park and Royal Victoria Park have all retained a coveted Green Flag award as a mark of recognition for being among the country’s best parks.

Haycombe Cemetery, also run by Bath & North East Somerset Council, has achieved its first award since 2015 for its green spaces.

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.

Councillor Mark Roper, cabinet assistant for Neighbourhood Services, said: “I’m delighted to hear the announcement of these six Green Flags for Bath, which recognise that residents are working alongside the council to improve our green spaces. Thank you to all the volunteer groups and Friends groups who do trojan work in maintaining our parks, helping to increase biodiversity as well as the quality of our public spaces."
