Award-winning Bristol theatre company Insane Root is launching a summer package for families this August!

School’s out and, for those in Bristol looking for family activities and entertainment, theatre masters Insane Root have created a summer holiday family  package: four tickets for the price of three at its acclaimed production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, running until 20 August. 

Suitable for ages 5 and up, don’t miss your chance to introduce your loved ones to alternative, fresh, funny, Shakespeare in the atmospheric open air surroundings of Eastville Park Swimming Pool.

The production features an ensemble of nine professional performers, live singing, neon lighting and Stranger Things-inspired soundscapes. Action takes place all around and amongst the audience, with actors running, climbing, jumping and dancing their way around the venue!

Eastville Park Swimming Pool was originally built as a Victorian lido that was damaged in World War Two and subsequently turned into a community garden. Layers of history, and tension between the natural and human worlds, provide the perfect landscape for Shakespeare’s most magical play.

Commenting on the production Hannah Drake, Insane Root Co-Founder and show Director said: “Insane Root Theatre is all about providing thrilling theatrical experiences rooted in extraordinary places, and our work with young people is key to that: we’ve been delighted to welcome so many students in training on work placements throughout the creation of the show. 

“Now that the summer holidays are truly upon us, we wanted to celebrate the long summer evenings and share this beautiful production with people who might not think that Shakespeare is for them – because it absolutely is!”

After watching the performance, audience member Sara Sowah commented “We loved it! In our group: a retired English teacher, two Shakespeare lovers, a Shakespeare sceptic, a 10-year-old and a five-year-old – we ALL loved it! Really magical!”

The ticket offer is available from 1 – 20 August (inclusive), with an allocation at every performance.
