NEXT LEVEL: Bristol’s musical creative community join forces in the search for the city’s brightest new music talent - to help them take their careers to the next level

Team Love, Bristol Beacon, Big Team and Pirate Studios are co-producing an artist development scheme, with support from CRACK magazine and SWU FM, combining their knowledge of Bristol’s music and live events scene, supporting upcoming singers, rappers and MCs between 18-25 years, based in Bristol, who are ready to make moves and focus their creative journeys to the next level in their music careers. 

Collaborating with some of the biggest and most influential names in music, such as Bristol’s biggest music festival Love Saves The Day; renowned and award-winning venue Bristol Beacon; UK-wide musician, podcaster and dancer studios, Pirate Studios; the Europe-wide monthly independent music and culture magazine, Crack; and Bristol electronic music station SWU FM; the programme will support young talent in the city, allowing them to gain a-week long studio experience and the potential opportunity to perform live at Love Saves The Day.

The callout will be announced on 10 March, with applications open until the deadline on 28 March 2022. 

Specifically aimed at semi-established artists, applicants will need to submit their details - including social media handles, examples of their work and live performances - via the Big Team website. 

With only limited spaces, successful applicants will take part in a week-long programme to develop their skills and talent. This will include 1-1 mentoring sessions with industry producers and vocalists at Pirate Studios, who include big Bristol names such as: Eva Lazarus, Res One, Sam Interface, Dread MC, Fiyahdred and N.Y.T.A.

Applicants will then take part in a public showcase and performance at Bristol Beacon in front of a live audience and special guest panel who will provide feedback aimed at helping them progress their careers. Attending will also be a secret headliner and special guest. Following that, the successful applicants will then participate in a workshop with CRACK magazine to develop their music industry understanding, culminating in the chance to potentially play love Saves The Day Festival in June. 

This project has been specially designed to help springboard grassroot artists’ careers and place them into professional situations which will build confidence and develop their future performance skills. With industry support from some prolific Bristol artists and guidance from partners, the hope is that young artists will be able to take their music careers to the NEXT LEVEL.
