'Operation Warm Welcome' is the Government’s programme to settle people who have arrived in the UK as a result of the evacuation of Afghanistan. As part of this programme DWP is working alongside other government departments, employers, and organisations to find work and permanent housing for these arrivals and to help them integrate into UK life.

With the shortage of staff in the hospitality and tourism sector, we have been asked by DCMS to highlight the matching service that DWP is providing to link these arrivals with job opportunities within the industry.  There is a wide range of people with different levels of skills, experience, English-language ability and personal circumstances, across England, Scotland and Wales. The matching process helps connect employers and other organisations to DWP, who can then offer opportunities for training or jobs for Afghan citizens resettling in the UK. If Visit West members have any potential employment opportunities, they should contact DWP by emailing employer.advice@dwp.gov.uk .

It would be helpful if their email included the following details:

  • Job title and job description
  • Number of roles available
  • Locations
  • An outline of the application process required
  • Level of English language requirement
  • If a driver’s license is required
  • If accommodation is included

Also, if members take advantage of this service, could you please let the Membership Team or DCMS officials know as they want to track uptake by the industry.
