Olivier Award-winning comedy favourites, Mischief are set to present Magic Goes Wrong at the Theatre Royal Bath from Tuesday 9th November to Sunday 21st November as the hit West End show created with magic legends Penn & Teller tours the UK for the first time.
Mischief’s biggest and most daring comedy catastrophe to date, Magic Goes Wrong follows a hapless gang of magicians as they stage an evening of grand illusion to raise cash for charity. As the magic turns to mayhem, accidents spiral out of control and so does their fundraising target!
Raising the bar with their dare-devil stunts, jaw-dropping feats and irresistible comedy genius, Mischief’s Magic Goes Wrong was first seen in the West End in December 2019, where the show premiered at the Vaudeville Theatre. As well as touring the UK in 2021 and 2022, Magic Goes Wrong resumed performances in London this October, moving to its new West End home at the Apollo Theatre.
The cast for Magic Goes Wrong’s UK tour includes Daniel Anthony as Mickey, Valerie Cutko as Eugenia, Rory Fairbairn as Mind Mangler, Sam Hill as Sophisticato, Kiefer Moriarty as The Blade, Jocelyn Prah as Spitzmaus, Chloe Tannenbaum as Bar with understudies Ishbel Cummings, CJ Field, Ricky Oakley and Jay Olpin.
Mischief’s other West End successes include The Play That Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrong, The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, Groan Ups and Mischief Movie Night. Their hugely successful six-part TV Series, The Goes Wrong Show, aired in the UK on BBC1 and on Amazon Prime Video in the US, Canada and Australia. The show received a 2020 TV Choice Award nomination for Best Comedy and has recently been nominated in the Comedy category at the 2021 National Television Awards. The second series of The Goes Wrong Show launched on BBC1 this September with all five episodes now available to watch on iPlayer.
Magic Goes Wrong marks the tenth time that Mischief has presented a show at the Theatre Royal Bath. Mischief brought their first UK tour of The Play That Goes Wrong to the Theatre Royal in 2014, followed by sell-out runs in 2017 and 2018, a socially distanced festive run in December 2020 and a hugely popular return visit in August 2021. They also presented Peter Pan Goes Wrong at the Theatre Royal in 2015 and 2019, brought The Comedy About A Bank Robbery to Bath in 2019 and opened the first UK tour of Groan Ups at the Theatre Royal in August 2021.
Magic Goes Wrong is written by Penn Jillette, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Henry Shields and Teller and directed by Adam Meggido with set design by Will Bowen. The creative team also includes magic consultant Ben Hart, costume designer Roberto Surace, lighting designer David Howe, sound designer Paul Groothius, video and projection designer Duncan McLean, composer Steve Brown, movement director Ali James and associate director Hannah Sharkey.
Magic Goes Wrong appears at the Theatre Royal Bath from Tuesday 9th November to Sunday 21st November. Tickets are on sale at the Theatre Royal Bath Box Office on 01225 448844 and online at www.theatreroyal.org.uk
