Hosting their first youth summit, on Saturday 18 September, Westonbirt aims to give local young people the chance to discuss all things climate change, conservation and to have their say about what they think should be happening.
Karen Price, Community Coordinator at Westonbirt says, ‘It is so important that the younger generation have their say about climate change and conservation and to enable them to feel they are connected to nature. This is their planet, and they are the future, and this summit aims to give them a voice and help them to learn about what Westonbirt stands for’.
Participants will be able to attend workshops to discover more about the impact of climate change on trees, woodlands, and forests. They will explore possible solutions to tackling climate change, locally at Westonbirt and beyond.
Experts from Westonbirt will be joined by Forest England staff to be on the panel of the Q&A section of the day, taking questions from young conservationists about the actions Westonbirt and Forestry England are taking.
As the Italian Ministry of Environment put it, "The future of the planet is a challenge that mainly concerns young people, who in recent years have been standard-bearers in the battle for the fight against global warming and for environmental sustainability.’’
