The team behind Breaking Bread have announced that August will be the final month of the outdoor dining experience on The Downs.
This means August 2021, will be the last chance for diners and drinkers to experience this unique al-fresco offering this year. They have also announced their full programme of entertainment and events across the site.
Tom Paine, Breaking Bread Co-Founder Explains:
"August will be a final full month of trading up on the Downs. We are determined to go out on a high with an amazing programme of events both in The Pipe and Lovers and Pergola and of course, the last chance to sample the delicious menu from this one-off collaboration between Josh Eggleton from The Pony & Trap and Ben & Joe Harvey from Pasta Loco, supporting local independent producers and showcasing the finest ingredients that the South West produces.
“We are already looking pretty busy for the month so if you haven't had the chance to eat with us yet, or you want to come back for second helpings, don't hesitate to bag yourself a reservation.
“Finally, we are making some extra special plans for the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of the month, so watch this space for more details on a full weekend of amazing food producers, street food, music and entertainment to celebrate the end of the summer in style!"
Breaking Bread’s closing weekend will be Saturday 28 Sunday 29 August, with a special event in the pipeline for this occasion.
This one-off event will take over the whole of Breaking Bread and feature live entertainment, markets and traders as well as unique dining experiences within Home Grown, the collaborative restaurant between The Pony & Trap and Pasta Loco.
Details regarding this closing weekend event will be announced in due course.
Having first opened its doors during the peak of Lockdown 1.0 in the Summer of 2020, Breaking Bread has seen tens of thousands of diners pass through its doors and directly employed over 100 hospitality staff.
Both Home Grown and The Pergola (Breaking Bread’s private hire venue) will close following this weekend. However, the Pipe & Lovers will remain open until 4-5 Sept, to accommodate visitors to both Love Saves the Day and The IDLES headlined event, also taking place on The Downs. Providing a much-needed boost for the city’s hospitality industries and supply chains, Breaking Bread was a keystone project not only for the city of Bristol but for the entire hospitality industry nationwide.
