From Tuesday 1 June - Wednesday 30 June, The Egg Assembly presents its most innovative project to date, Routes. An interactive online experience, Routes pitches audience members against the clock in a race to uncover clues and unearth the truth in an environmental crime thriller.

A first for the Theatre Royal Bath, this cutting edge production combines digital technology and human creativity with audience participation. To take part in Routes audience members are invited to join the Theatre Royal Bath's new digital theatre strand, The Egg Assembly, online using their own laptop or desktop computer.

Who you trust is a choice. So, choose.

When your friend goes missing unexpectedly, you are the one tasked with finding the answers. But, in a dangerous world of high stakes dealings, rapidly eroding ancient lands, and volatile shifting alliances, do you have what it takes to untangle the web and discover the answers?

Recommended for individuals and families aged 14+, Routes places its online audience firmly in the driving seat. During a thrilling missing person’s search, Routes sends participants on an escape room style adventure which explores the many threats and challenges facing our natural world, including logging, poaching, corruption and the destruction of forests.

Routes lasts for one hour and ticket holders can activate their experience between 2pm and midnight on their chosen date during the run. Participants can use many different paths to search for clues, so it is possible to play multiple times on the date you’ve booked for.

Sophie Jacobs-Wyburn, Artistic Director of Theatre Royal Bath’s Theatre School and Director of Routes, said: "We are incredibly excited by Routes, an interactive digital experience forged by young people and very much focused on the world we live in today. We are thrilled to bring this unique and pulse-quickening thriller to your homes, playable at leisure from the comfort of your own computer."

Directed by Sophie Jacobs-Wyburn, Routes has been created by a team of twenty-three from The Egg Assembly, aged 15 to 25 years, who have worked with a range of experts in the field.

The cast for Routes comprises nine; whilst the technology has been designed and built by six young people working with creative technologists from Megaverse, whose previous theatre credits include Frankenstein for the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.

Completing the Routes creative team are a group of eight young writers who have worked alongside Michelle McMahon. An associate artist with interactive theatre makers Coney, Michelle’s previous credits include co-creating How We Save The World for the Natural Environmental Research Council and The Natural History Museum, and working with transformational theatre company, Punchdrunk.

Alex Duarte-Davies, Executive Director of Theatre Royal Bath’s Theatre School and The Egg Assembly, said: "Routes represents a year of exploration into our ever-shifting theatrical landscape. The company behind The Egg Assembly and the creation of Routes are the core team behind the Theatre Royal Bath’s Theatre School; a team that champions and empowers young people to express themselves and create authentic and meaningful art. Told through their own voices, Routes responds to the growing call of young people wanting to make a change for our future and the environment."

Routes takes place online from Tuesday 1 June to Wednesday 30 June.

Tickets costing £10 per device can be purchased from the Theatre Royal Bath Box Office on 01225 448844, The Egg on 01225 823 409 or online via www.theatreroyal.org.uk/routes
