Two of the city’s most famous restaurants will join forces to deliver a collaborative menu celebrating locally produced food and the cultural diversity of Bristol.

Breaking Bread’s tipi restaurants of The Pony & Trap and Pasta Loco were a highlight of 2020 for many. Now the team has revealed fine dining will return on May 20th as an all-new restaurant concept, named Home Grown.

Celebrated chefs Josh Eggleton and Ben and Joe Harvey have dreamt up and are leading the concept to deliver something new and unique together, celebrating Bristol’s food scene, its ethos, identity and sustainability.

The food at Home Grown will celebrate locally sourced produce, support local supply chains and the city’s restaurant scene, creating an experience by Bristol, for Bristol from a passionate and knowledgeable team.

A changing seasonal five-course dining menu will initially feature incredible local produce such as trout from Chalk Stream, linguine verde with locally grown spinach and Westcombe ricotta, Chew Valley saddle-back pork, Failand sheep’s cheese and Cheddar strawberries.

Reservations for Home Grown will go live on Wednesday 12th May, to reserve a table please visit https://www.breakingbreadbristol.co.uk/.

Josh Eggleton, Breaking Bread Co-founder, explains “From a project that was created in response to the pandemic, this can, should and will become one about sustainability for all those involved. This has always been a major contributing factor to the way I cook, and the way Ben, Dom, Joe and the Bianchi's team approach food.

“Provenance and ecology are hugely important in everything we do. Now more than ever as we look to get hospitality back onto its feet in Bristol, Home Grown will have the same indoor/outdoor setting as last year, giving customers the confidence to enjoy a meal out with friends and family, with a menu collaboration which is a first for Bristol.”

Breaking Bread is a ground-breaking food and drink pop-up on Bristol’s Downs. As well as the restaurant and pub gardens it also features numerous venues within its grounds, which can be privately hired for the first time in 2021. Organisers for weddings, gigs, brand experiences, awards and corporate events are invited to host guests in part or all of the Covid safe venue this summer.

The private hire initiative supports Breaking Bread’s own CIC, The Team Canteen, which supports community organisations in Bristol, while directly helping to feed some of the city’s most at risk.

Breaking Bread will also launch regular weekend markets on 23rd May 2021. Saturdays will be dedicated to makers, designers, vintage traders and craftspeople. While Sundays will see a local food market open to local makers, producers, growers as well as food demos.

Applications to be a part of Breaking Bread’s markets are now open and can be found at https://www.breakingbreadbristol.co.uk/markets
