The Royal Photographic Society has launched “Photography for Everyone”, a dynamic new plan, packed with new ideas, to shape its work over the coming years. The programmes aim to inspire, empower and educate its members and the public, and demonstrate the ways that photography can be a force for positive change.

• The 21 programmes are structured under three pillars: Inspire, Create and Connect.
• Five aims underpin each programme: Inclusion, Environmental and Social Responsibility, Member Participation, Financial Sustainability and Profile Raising.
• New programmes include a community for Young Photographers, the appointment of the UK’s first Photographer Laureate and actively researching photography’s impact on mental health and wellbeing.
• The RPS will expand its support for professional photographers (working in partnership with BIPP and the AOP), take a lead on environmental and social issues and share the science behind new imaging technologies.

The RPS is a worldwide community of thousands of people who love photography, and who believe in its importance as an artistic, scientific and expressive medium. Together with volunteers, photographers and partner organisations throughout the world, it will continue to develop its popular Exhibitions, Awards, Journal and Education programmes; but will also deliver a range of ambitious new programmes.

The strategy has been created to provide a clear and ambitious direction for the RPS for the next five years and beyond. It has been developed over many months as a result of extensive research and consultations with hundreds of people including RPS Trustees, volunteers, members, staff and external stakeholders.

“Since 1853, the Royal Photographic Society has played a leading role in the promotion of the art and science of photography around the world. Our new plan recognises that this role is as important now as it has ever been, and presents a robust and sustainable roadmap for the future of the RPS.” Simon Hill HonFRPS, President.

“At the RPS, we love photography, and the worlds of possibility that it opens to us. The staff team, volunteers and I are all really excited to put these ambitious ideas into action. We hope you will all join us on the photographic journey ahead, to bring ‘Photography for Everyone’ to life.” Evan Dawson, CEO.
