Bristol’s favourite sons, IDLES, will headline outdoor concert on The Downs on Friday 3 of September 2021.
The one-off gig is being organised by Bristol’s Team Love and Simple Things and will be IDLES first headline outdoor show in Bristol. Welcoming 10,000 people to The Downs, to watch the iconic five-piece, as well as a line-up of support still to be confirmed.
Dave Harvey from Team Love and Simple Things said “It’s an amazing feeling to announce the IDLES homecoming show for September this year. We have been huge fans of the band for years and have watched them grow from playing very early on the bill in small venues for Simple Things to becoming one of the world’s biggest and most important rock bands. There simply isn’t a venue in Bristol now who can hold all the people that would want to see them, so we found an outdoor venue instead!”
“It feels all the more important to put on a show with them now, we really feel like this is the light at the end of the tunnel for all of us, to be able to be back standing in the audience watching one of Bristol’s best bands play their number one album live for one of the very first times in front of their hometown fans. It’s going to feel really special.”
IDLES scored their first UK Number One album in 2020 with ‘Ultra Mono’, which also became the fastest selling vinyl release of the year, but unfortunately have yet to be able to play the album out to any of their fans since their sold-out tour has been pushed back to 2022. This makes today’s announcement of the homecoming show all the more exciting for their fans and the city.
IDLES won’t be the only act on that day, with organisers Team Love and Simple Things promising a whole day of amazing music, food, drink and fellowship, all to be announced in the coming months. Sign up for presale tickets is live from 31st March and fans can register at (https://found.ee/IDLESPRESALE)
Presale will go live at 9.00am on Thursday 1st April (not a fool!) and any available tickets left will be put up on a General Sale at 9.00am on Friday 2nd April.
Tickets are priced £39.50 +bf and £45.00 + bf. The show is open to all ages but under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
