Known for its organic and minimal intervention wines, KASK in North Street in Bedminster, is marking its fifth anniversary with a special celebration this Saturday, 12 October 2024.

Since opening its doors on North Street in 2019, KASK has become a go-to spot for wine lovers, breaking down the barriers to discovering different grapes and regions and offering a relaxed, approachable experience that, in the owners’ words, “stamps out the pretentiousness often found in the industry”.

The anniversary celebration kicks off when the doors open at 2:00 PM with the KASK team popping open some of their favourite Pet Nats - fun, naturally sparkling wines that perfectly embody KASK’s love for wines with character. Live Music by PM Legrand, known for his gigs around Bristol’s bars and restaurants with Busker’s Banquet, starts at 4.30PM, with DJ Jon Leisure, a long-time friend of KASK and stalwart of Bristol’s nightlife scene, in charge of the tunes from 7.30PM to close.

Throughout the event, KASK’s team will be pulling some of their favourite wines out of the cellar and down from the shelves and offering tasters.

Charlie Taylor, co-owner of KASK with his wife Natalie, said, “What started off as a “one day we’d love to open a bar like this” chat in San Sebastian has brought us to the fifth birthday party of KASK. Our whole aim was to match the experience of that little bar you stumble across while on a European city break, then tell all your friends about when you get home. Thanks to an epic team, fantastic importers, supportive neighbouring businesses on North Street and an incredible set of regulars, we’ve somehow survived this long, despite everything that’s been thrown at the hospitality sector in the last five years.”

KASK opened in 2019 with the mission to cut through the jargon and snobbery often associated with wine and to make wine fun, approachable, and - most importantly - delicious. It has since built a loyal following, offering organic wines with minimal intervention, wines on tap and a philosophy that good wine is meant to be shared.

On the eve of its fifth birthday, KASK has launched a loyalty programme for its regulars, offering discounts on both drink-in and take-home bottles, cut-price tastes of their most expensive bottles and priority access to their fortnightly sell-out tasting events.

Taylor explained: “We’ve always been focused on making it easier for our regulars to drink better wine for less, whether that’s through our investment in Wine on Tap, scouring our importer lists for deals, or searching for under-appreciated regions that offer fantastic value. Still, there are some bottles we’d like them to enjoy, the high price of contradict our desire to show that wine doesn’t need to be a luxury, so as a thank you for getting us to five years, we’re offering the opportunity to get an exclusive corkage rate that will dramatically reduce the price of a bottle, as well as to have a glass of some expensive but very sexy wines for a price that will make it more accessible to try. We’re also introducing a KASK Club refillable bottle with the smaller size of 500ml, rather than the standard 750ml. This offers the opportunity to take one of our Tap Wines home, without the fear of wastage. How do you join the club? Our regulars will find out”.
