The frighteningly fantastic eek! week returns to WWT Slimbridge this Halloween with a spookily sensational line-up of events to get visitors closer to the weird and wonderful side of wetland wildlife. Visitors can enjoy eek! week activities and events from Saturday 21 October – Sunday 5 November so both Gloucestershire and Bristol can enjoy!
When it comes to nature, some creatures have undeservingly earned themselves a creepy reputation so to dispel any myths – with some slight frights here and there – we have a week of fun and learning lined-up that showcase the species that need a little more love, from frogs and newts to bats and bugs.
During the October half-term holidays we have plenty of tricks and treats at WWT Slimbridge including Canoe Safaris, daily otter feeds, Meet the Trainer and amphibian talks. Visitors can also get creative and make origami toads or recyclable dragonflies! There will also be popular pond dipping sessions to find what lurks beneath the surface and Professor Slug’s House of Bugs will be giving interactive shows on 28 & 29 October and 4 & 5 November in our very own cinema.
As well as a creepy calendar of events, our hugely popular Halloween trail is back. Winding its wicked way through wetland and woodland, the accessible trail provides perfect interactive opportunity for visitors to see how brave they are while learning about the amazing nature at the site.
Another of eek! week’s highlights is the return of the fantastic feely boxes which visitors can reach into to discover what is hiding inside…if they are bold enough! The boxes are set along the outdoor trails with other spookily sensory fun and frights along the way.
