Hartley Farm exterior barn

About

Hartley Farm Shop & Kitchen is a fifth-generation family farm set in the beautiful countryside just a few miles from Bradford on Avon and the City of Bath. With plenty of free parking, it’s a convenient spot to enjoy quality food and a welcoming atmosphere.

The farm kitchen, recognised as the UK’s Best Farm Restaurant 2023, serves up homemade dishes inspired by the produce from the shop. The menu includes hearty breakfasts, satisfying lunches, and a tempting selection of cakes and pastries, all made fresh daily. Sundays are a highlight, with a classic roast dinner that’s perfect for families or friends looking to relax and enjoy good food.

Being on a farm, they love to embrace and celebrate the surroundings whether that be in the recently converted farm kitchen, The Barn, or grabbing a coffee, cake or gelato served from The Cabin and enjoyed in the beautiful flower garden and paddock.

The Barn

The Barn, the home of the farm kitchen. Just like all farm kitchens up and down the land, it is a place to gather, rest and replenish with good food, friends, and family.

The menu is seasonal and many of the ingredients are sourced directly from the farm shop. In fact, all of the meat is prepared by the in-house butchers and the beef is sourced from the farm. At the heart of the kitchen is a wood-fired oven serving up pizzas daily.

They serve breakfast, lunch, coffee, cake, and everything in between. The Barn is open from 9 am until 5 pm on Monday to Saturday and 9 am until 4 pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

The Cabin

The Cabin is open seasonally (usually 10 am until 4 pm on weekends and school holidays) serving freshly ground coffee, homemade cakes, sandwiches, gelato, and all the other essentials to enjoy on the go.

Next to The Cabin is the children’s area with plenty of areas to explore, play and see the pet chickens, ducks, and rabbits go about their day! They have plenty of alfresco seating available in the flower garden and around the kid’s area to rest those weary legs whilst the little ones burn off some steam.

Sustainability

They are on a carbon zero mission with currently 40% of their own energy produced on site through solar. 2025 will see that pushed to 60% with the help of battery storage and the installation of car charging facilities. Rain water is harvested from their barn rooves and recylced for use in their toilets along with use on the farm for livestock drinking water and irrigation. They have a 3 acre organic market garden, produce grass-fed beef and source from local farmers, growers and makers to keep food miles down and celebrate the seasons.
