Classic Room in the Gainsborough Bath Spa

About

The Gainsborough Bath Spa occupies two historic buildings with Georgian and Victorian facades in the heart of Bath.

Named after the artist Thomas Gainsborough, the luxury hotel is welcoming and elegant, with 99 custom furnished guest rooms and suites subtly referencing period details combined with modern facilities and comforts, airy and bright with views across the city to surrounding countryside.

Socialize at The Gainsborough features contemporary British cuisine inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients in a stylish and relaxed environment. Open for breakfast and dinner, non-residents are also more than welcome. Additionally, the Canvas Room and Gainsborough Bar serve an all-day menu and an extensive selection of drinks.

At the heart of the hotel is Spa Village Bath. Bathed in natural light from the glass atrium, take the waters in the Bath House, with a circuit including two natural thermal pools of varying temperatures, traditional and infrared saunas, a steam room, an ice alcove and elegant relaxation areas. Spa Village Bath also features 11 treatment rooms for indulgent pamper sessions.

You can also choose to stay in one of the hotel's exclusive spa rooms, the only hotel rooms in the country to offer in-bathroom access to the steaming thermal waters.

Spa Days

Visitors can now book spa days at The Gainsborough Hotel without booking a stay at the hotel. A Spa Day at The Gainsborough Bath Spa includes a Bath House Experience of up to four hours, where guests can “take the waters” and enjoy the Bath House circuit at their own leisure. Tapping into the original Roman Bath springs, the natural thermal water of Bath is the core of the Spa Village Bath experience, offering a contemporary perspective on the city’s thermal water heritage. Beginning with an aromatherapy blending session, the Bath House circuit includes the chance to bathe in three natural thermal pools of varying temperatures, use of the aromatic steam room, ice alcove, infrared and traditional saunas, as well as access to the fully equipped gymnasium and relaxation terrace.

Each Spa Day includes a 50-minute spa treatment available for guests to select dependent on their wellness needs. From a Renewal Facial to a Revitalising Full Body Swedish Massage or a Back to Vitality treatment targeting the areas that need most attention, guests will feel fully pampered. Those visiting with a loved one can also book a Time for Two treatment which enables them to enjoy a Gainsborough Signature Massage together in the same room. Throughout the spa experience, guests will delight in a welcome and post-treatment herbal tea as well as use of a luxurious robe, towel and slippers.

The Spa Day experience also offers the chance to enjoy a traditional Afternoon Tea served in the hotel’s elegant Canvas Room. Offering the perfect place to relax and socialise in a homely and stylish setting, guests can delight in a selection of quintessentially British sandwiches, cakes and scones.
