About

John Wesley’s New Room has been a venue for people to gather and meet since the building opened in 1739. Their offer of hospitality continues today with four distinct spaces available for hire across the heritage site: the 18th century chapel and private courtyard; the 21st century Visitor Centre atrium space; and two dedicated meeting rooms. Their award-winning café can provide a range of catering options based on your requirements from drinks receptions to buffet lunches.

The Horsefair Room

The Horsefair Room can accommodate up to 50 people in various configurations. It is located on the third floor of the visitor centre and can be accessed via stairs or lift. The room has state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment in place for projections and presentations plus there is an adjoining mezzanine balcony available as a breakout area.

Chapel Meeting Room

This room can accommodate up to 8 people and is located within the old vestry in the chapel. The room is self-contained and has been sound-proofed to ensure privacy. The room has state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment in place for projections and presentations plus a hearing loop.

The Chapel & Broadmead Courtyard

In addition to their two meeting spaces, the 18th century chapel is available to hire and has, over the years, hosted a wide variety of events such as concerts, recitals, conferences, exhibitions, and theatrical performances as well as staring in several major TV dramas and documentaries. This 400-seat capacity space has fantastic acoustics and an intimate, unique atmosphere, with evening performances often taking place by candlelight. The private cobbled courtyard offers an outdoor space for drinks receptions and networking events.

The Visitor Centre Atrium
If you are looking for a modern, dramatic space in the city centre then consider the atrium in the Visitor Centre. This three-storey glass-roofed space offers an airy, relaxed space for networking and other events such as book launches or talks.

John Wesley’s New Room itself is located in the heart of the Bristol Shopping Quarter with pedestrian entrances from both Broadmead and Horsefair. It is easily accessible using public transport links with local bus services, three Park & Ride services and Bristol Bus & Coach Station all within a three-minute walk of the New Room. Bristol Temple Meads railway station is a fifteen-minute walk and there is a taxi rank just along from the Horsefair entrance. Although there is no on-site parking, there are over 5000 car parking spaces available within a five-minute walk.
