A guided walking tour is a great way to delve into Bath’s history-steeped past, especially as the city’s compact size makes it easy to explore on foot. As well as tours that share highlights, others hone in on certain themes. You could enter the world of Jane Austen, track down Bridgerton filming locations or learn about the city’s connections to the 18th century slave trade. 

Alternatively, hop on the open-top bus tour with commentary covering 17 different stops around the city.

Georgian entertainment at the Assembly Rooms

Once you’re acquainted with the city, discover one of the most elegant and significant pieces of its Georgian heritage. The elegant and historic Assembly Rooms were designed in 1769 as a place for high society entertainment – balls, concerts, teas and gambling. A bespoke guided tour will teach you about the events, music and people that once filled the meeting rooms.

Afternoon tea at the Pump Room

Continue the Georgian Bath experience at the Pump Room restaurant, another place once frequented by the likes of Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. There’s no better place to indulge in the British tradition of afternoon tea than under the glittering chandelier of this magnificent dining space. 

You can ‘take the water’ from the hot spa water fountain that inspired the Pump Room’s name. It contains 43 minerals and was considered a health remedy by the Georgians. Though be warned, the taste is quite unusual…!

Fine art at the Holburne Museum

The Holburne Museum’s grand façade and garden ensured it earned screen time in Bridgerton (it was Lady Danbury’s house, for fans of the show). Originally designed to be a hotel, the Grade I listed building was turned into an art museum in 1916, showcasing the Holburne family’s collection of fine and decorative arts amassed in the late 18th and early 19th century.

This original collection remains at the heart of the museum but has been enhanced over the decades, with everything from bronze sculptures and Chinese porcelain to portraits by some of the greatest artists of the eighteenth century on display. A private tour will introduce you to some of the most significant pieces and the stories behind them.

A historic reception at the Roman Baths

Enter the evening with drinks and canapes in the unrivalled setting of the Roman Baths.
